The Canto Carso mixed choir was established in October 2011. Its name is derived from the Latin word for "karst," referring to the Bohemian Karst area southwest of Prague where its twenty-something singers hail from. Canto Carso meets for practice in the small town of Řevnice under the watchful supervision of choirmaster Roman Michálek. Its repertory comprises both sacred and secular music, including folk songs adapted by Czech composer Antonín Dvořák, masses and madrigals.
Despite its young age, Canto Carso has performed a number of times, both in its region and in Prague, where it sang at a joint concert with a German choir in May 2012 and at another with two Czech choirs in October 2012.
Canto Carso is a member of the Czech Choirs Association.
